Some personal injury lawyers continue to use the American Disabilities Act (ADA) to shake down businesses for cash settlements to avoid high cost court cases.
Just last year, the State Bar of Texas took action against an Austin lawyer for professional misconduct after he sent letters to hundreds of health care providers threatening to sue them under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for allegedly non-compliant websites if they did not pay him a $2,000 settlement. Unfortunately, the lawsuit was dismissed in early 2018.
